Overview

SandDollar Ambassadors are equipped to provide help-desk level support to the public during educational and outreach events hosted by the Central Bank.  This includes hands-on demonstration of payments platforms and the enrolment process for mobile wallets. Ambassadors must be sufficiently knowledgeable to provide basic responses to general queries about the SandDollar.  Ambassadors will undergo rigorous training before being rostered for public demonstration events. Ambassadors must be available for a minimum of  30 to 40  hours of outreach activity per month on weekends and Public Holidays, in the immediate months surrounding outreach on the island community in which the individuals reside.

Application Process

Please submit your interest in the SandDollar Ambassador program using the online application form. You will be required to create an account on the application portal using a valid email address. You can save the application and come back to it. However, once an application is submitted, you will not have an opportunity to make revisions. Gather the following information before beginning the process.

  • copy of photo ID
  • copies of any certificates or diplomas  (in PDF format)
  • copies of any references they wish to submit

The application process for initial activity closes Friday, 31 March, 2023. However, the Central Bank will re-open the exercise throughout the year. Only short-listed candidates will be contacted for an interview.

 

Code of Conduct

SandDollar Ambassadors are bound by the Central Bank’s Code of Conduct for employees regarding

  • Maintaining the highest standards of conduct within and outside the Central Bank
  • Honesty and trustworthiness in all actions
  • Avoidance of conflicts of interest
  • Maintaining utmost discretion with confidential information
  • Showing respect at all times for the dignity of all individuals

 

Tasks

  1. Explain the purpose of SandDollar, how it works, and wallet tiers.
  2. Understand and explain the retail wallet types in use on each proprietary platform.
  3. Provide the walkthrough instructions (and explain the personal information requirement) on how to create a tier I (basic) wallet on any existing platform; and understand and explain the process of establishing or upgrading to tier II (premium) wallets.
  4. Explain and provide hands-on demonstrations of SandDollar mobile payments, across all existing smartphone platforms in The Bahamas.
  5. Explain and provide hands-on demonstrations of SandDollar payments, using the Central Bank-issued SandDollar card across all existing mobile phone platforms in The Bahamas.
  6. Demonstrate how to send and receive remote SandDollar payments using user aliases or wallet ID.
  7. Explain and demonstrate merchant payment receipts of SandDollar across existing proprietary platforms in use in The Bahamas.
  8. Provide demonstrations to merchants on how to establish customer-facing QR-code interfaces to receive SandDollar payments
  9. Develop a basic understanding of the fee structure for mobile payments (P2P and merchant fees)
  10. Explain how to complete top-up and redemptions (transfers) between SandDollar wallets and bank deposit accounts
  11. Demonstrate and explain how to make top-up and redemptions of SandDollar accounts at kiosks deployed within The Bahamas
  12. Understand how to direct detailed enquiries to the official online SandDollar resources.

 

Training

Selected individuals are expected to complete a minimum of 16 hours of training and pass a knowledge test administered by the Central Bank.

 

Qualifications

  • SandDollar Ambassadors must be at the maturity level of at least High School graduates, having attained grades of C and above in BGCSE Mathematics and English. They must also demonstrate strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ambassadors must reside within the respective island communities of planned SandDollar outreach.
  • Individuals must be proficient with the use of Apple and Android smartphones. They must maintain access to an activated smartphone with access to cellular data.
  • Working knowledge of Haitian Creole would be an asset.
